We recently received notice of the annual Dewey A Whipple Sr. Family Reunion
Date: Friday-Saturday, June 12-13, 2015
Heber Valley Camp (same place as last year)
6402 E 1200 S
Heber City, UT 84032
Friday night activities will consist of singing around the campfire and telling stories. For those that want to camp overnight, the site has four cabins, each with 16 beds (64 beds total). Bring your sleeping bags, as there are no mattresses or bedding.
A nice paved road leads to the camp “and only the last bit into the camping spot is a nicely graded gravel road.”
The camp has a waterfront with a lake for a small fee.
Bring your own dinner Friday night. Breakfast and lunch will be provided on Saturday.
As in past years, there will be a raffle. More information will be forthcoming.
My inbox has two announcements (so far) of Whipple Reunions this summer. Here they are, in chronological order:

Pennie Whipple (firstname.lastname@example.org) announced the June reunion on March 28 via email.
The reunion begins at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Friday through 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Email Pennie for the latest information about the reunion to be held at Heber Valley Camp.
John and Adeline Whipple Descendants, August 10, 2014, Otter Brook State Park, New Hampshire
Raymond Whipple announced this reunion on the Whipple Website Facebook page on April 21:
Mark your calendar! Whipple family reunion August 10, 2014 at Otter Brook State Park. ( http://www.nhstateparks.com/otter.html ). People will start arriving at 10am. If you plan on attending please bring a dish to share. We also have a raffle table with items donated by those attending. There are grills for your grilling pleasure. This in the past has been for the descendants of John and Adeline Whipple but we wanted to meet more relatives so any descendant of Captain John and Sarah are welcome! The more the better! Reunions prior to 2008 are listed on the main Whipple Website.
Janele Whipple sent additional information about the June 9th Dewey Whipple Family Reunion (mentioned in a previous blog post). Specifically, she encourages attendees to participate in the raffle:
I was reminded that I overlooked telling all of you about our raffle for this year. We must raise $300 for next year’s reunion and a raffle is a fun way to do it, share our talents and have fun getting handmade items made by those we love.
We have a quilt coming in from Linda Drake (Dick’s daughter) and some paintings and pottery coming from Karen Suisse (Dick’s daughter). I am still using the hand made cards I got a few years back at a Whipple Reunion. Thank you to whoever brought those, I love them! I encourage all of you to bring something for our raffle at the Whipple Family Reunion, June 9, 2012.
Janele Whipple just announced the date of the annual Dewey A. Whipple reunion. (See the flyer below.)
Help Janele with the slide show by sending her your favorite photos by Tuesday, May 1, 2012. Send the photos to the email address shown at the bottom of the flyer, with the subject line “Whipple Reunion Slideshow Photos”.
Correction: The address is 963 W. Folsom Avenue (not Flosom).
Mark your calendars now! It’s going to be fun!

I just received the following announcement of the annual Dewey Whipple Family Reunion in Salt Lake City, June 12, 2010:
Come to the annual Whipple Reunion at the This Is The Place Heritage Park and see the area where your ancestor, Edson Whipple, came into the valley. You can see his name on the “This is the Place” monument and experience a bit of his pioneer lifestyle at the This Is The Place Heritage Park. Let all the family know!! Reconnect, share your history and have fun!
Date: Saturday, June 12th 2010
Place: This Is The Place Heritage Park
2601 E Sunnyside Avenue
Salt Lake City, Utah
The Atkins home inside the park is reserved for our reunion “headquarters” and is available to us all day. Register and get your name tag here, stash your stuff and enjoy the park! Food is available to purchase in the park at the Huntsman Hotel. If you want to drive your own cooler etc. up to the house you have to do it before the park opens by 8:30 a.m. otherwise carry it in. The house is air conditioned and will be the place we hold our family gathering/picnic in the evening.
Go to www.thisistheplace.org to see a virtual tour of the Atkins home and for information about the park. For the reunion we get half price admission to the park (tell them you are with the Whipple reunion): adults $4 children 3-11 and seniors 55+ $3 (regularly $8 and $6)
Admission includes any 3 take- home craft, pony ride, mini-train ride. Additional activities are $1 per craft or ride. Two replica trains, included in admission, give everyone a relaxing and fun way to see the entire 450 acre park. Explore pioneer homes and shops and watch authentic trade and craft demonstrations, shop at Z.C.M.I., pet animals or enjoy the pioneer playground. See the same view Edson Whipple saw when he entered the valley.
Time: The Park opens at 9:00 a.m. and closes at 5:00. The family gathering/picnic will be at 5:30. If you are only coming to the family gathering/picnic you have to be at the park gates by 5:20 and you will be let into the park by a park representative.
